As the holiday season approaches, This Is Life Chicago hosted a heartwarming Day of Giving on November 15, 2025, at Hamilton Park (513 W. 72nd St.) on the city’s South Side. The nonprofit transformed the park into a hub of generosity, distributing essential items to families and children in need.

Community Comes Together to Give Back
From 12 PM to 3 PM, This Is Life Chicago welcomed neighbors, volunteers, and community partners who joined in the mission to uplift vulnerable families. The event offered free children’s coats, haircuts and a range of much-needed resources, including blankets, shoes, and hygiene items.
Volunteers played a major role, coordinating lines, handing out items, and ensuring every child left feeling supported and cared for.
A Mission Rooted in Community and Creativity
This Is Life Chicago was founded in 2013 by Natalie and her son D.A., with a vision of creating a safe space for youth to engage with the performing arts and express their creativity. Over the years, their work has grown to include community outreach and resource distribution, reflecting their commitment not only to artistic development, but also to social uplift.
Giving More Than Just Coats
While the coat distribution was a central feature of the event, the Day of Giving also offered haircuts and hairstyles for children, courtesy of local barbers and stylists. Additional giveaways included hats, gloves, hygiene products, and other basic necessities — all provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
