A new martial arts academy is bringing strength and discipline to Englewood. Dragon Budo Jujutsu Martial Arts Academy, located at 6619 S. Halsted, is led by Grand Master Darryl L. Starks Sr., a United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee and five-time world grappling champion.
With over 48 years of experience, Starks founded Dragon Budo to teach both jujutsu and self-defense while building confidence and leadership among students of all ages. The academy offers children’s and adult classes, plus a $10 trial session for newcomers.
Beyond fitness, Dragon Budo aims to give Englewood residents a safe and empowering space for personal growth. Recognized as one of Chicago’s top martial arts schools in 2024, it continues Starks’ lifelong mission to strengthen minds, bodies, and communities through martial arts.
