This year marked a major milestone for the Englewood community as R.A.G.E. Englewood (Resident Association of Greater Englewood) celebrated 15 years of resident-led organizing, advocacy, and neighborhood investment. The anniversary event served both as a celebration and a reflection—highlighting the organization’s long-standing commitment to uplifting Englewood through collective action.

The celebration included a special All-Star Awards ceremony, recognizing individuals, organizers, and community members who have played key roles in strengthening the neighborhood. These awards underscored a core principle of R.A.G.E.’s work: real change in Englewood has always been driven by residents, not outside narratives or temporary interventions.
Over the past 15 years, R.A.G.E. has been deeply involved in efforts to improve quality of life in Englewood. Their work has spanned community safety initiatives, economic development, youth support, civic engagement, homeownership advocacy, and the reclamation of public spaces. From organizing residents around policy issues to supporting local businesses and families, R.A.G.E. has consistently focused on long-term, sustainable progress rooted in local leadership.

The anniversary event also carried cultural weight. Legendary rapper Rakim made a special appearance, adding national recognition to a moment grounded in neighborhood pride. His presence highlighted the broader significance of the work being done in Englewood—connecting local organizing to a wider legacy of Black culture, resilience, and self-determination.
Rather than centering the celebration on a single moment, the event emphasized continuity. Fifteen years represents persistence through changing political climates, economic challenges, and shifting public attention. R.A.G.E.’s longevity speaks to its ability to remain accountable to residents while adapting to the evolving needs of the community.

The 15-year celebration was not just a look back—it was a statement of momentum. By honoring contributors through All-Star Awards and spotlighting the organization’s impact, R.A.G.E. Englewood reaffirmed its role as a pillar in the neighborhood. The message was clear: Englewood’s progress has been built from within, and the work continues.
